Tonight, the Broulee Runners are back in lock down. We have been fortunate since 14 October 2020 to be able to run together as a group in the 5 kilometres. That dark period lasted 30 weeks. Then on 21 April this year we were able to have runners compete over all three distances. It is hoped that this current lock down will not last long.
We wish to encourage Broulee Runners to continue to run or walk over one of the three distances during lock down and send in your time. It doesn’t matter where or when. If you are not a card-carrying Broulee Runner, you can obtain a ‘virtual membership card’ by submitting a result. It is important to continue to exercise and even measure your performance.
The best example of this is from Simon Wall “I am in quarantine so 54 laps around the back yard, up the side of the house, cross the front lawn and back through the garage.”
All records of individual performances are maintained, and should you need to check on PBs, number of runs or when you had you first run send a message.
It is worth noting that a few runners are approaching significant events in their history at the run. The first is Zoe Whymark with 28 runs is close to her Broulee runner’s shirt. Simon Wall has passed this mark many months ago and has not been with us in person to accept his shirt. Janelle Morgan 97 runs and Lisa Robbins 98 runs are looking forward to the significant 100 run mark to join the 42 other legends to achieve this status. All Broulee runners can bend a knee to the Herculean performance of David Connaughton with over 550 runs.
