Humid overcast conditions made the 33 starters in this evening’s run work very hard.  We welcomed back Hamish Gorman for his second run after an absence of 2 years.  Geoff Hawke made a welcome appearance, having been in lockdown in Canberra.

In the 2 kilometres personal best times were recorded by Benji, Neil, Alfie, and Eva Mackay.  Michael Lambert showed his class by reducing his PB by more than 2 minutes.

Once again Brent Vidler recorded a PB in the 5 kilometres.  He is still looking for support for his quest to raise funds for Movember.  His moustache is quite spectacular and worth supporting.

The highlight tonight was the clash between Lauren Evans and Matt Lambert.  Normally Matt has the wood on Lauren and usually finishes a few metres in front of Lauren.  However, tonight Lauren powered past Matt, with the encouragement of supporters, to win by 23 hundredths of a second.

High winds greeted the 26 actual runners this evening.  The event is for all ages, and this is very much evident tonight with 2-year-old Alfie Mackay, who ran with his mother Eva. He is a real star and enjoys the applause as he runs toward the finish line.

We welcomed back Lilly McIntosh, who has recovered from a broken ankle.  This may have slowed her down slightly nevertheless she was first home in the two kilometres.

Daniel Greenway was very impressive in the 3.5 Kilometres with a thirty-two second improvement.  Aden Reynolds ran an excellent PB with a time of 18.24 in the 5 kilometres.  The Movember man Brent Vidler, demonstrated excellent value for money in his quest to raise funds, by improving by 4 seconds in the 5 kilometres.

36 results were recorded.

10 November 2021

This evening we had 27 actual and 11 virtual runners.  There were some impressive times in the 5-kilometres given the wet humid conditions.  Four runners cracked the magic 20-minute mark and another two just over this time.  Dylan Hunt in his second appearance knocked 52 seconds off his previous time in the 5-kilometres.  I was great to see six families with three or members in tonight’s event.

Brent Vidler has set himself a target of running a minimum of 60 kilometres during November to raise funds for Men’s Health.  By look of his photo we trust that his supporters’ chip in because his mow is already impressive! Here is Brent’s link for his fundraiser page. https://au.movember.com/mospace/14624211

Several Broulee Runners tested themselves in the Huskie Festival last weekend.  The conditions were oppressive nevertheless they all showed their toughness.  In the Triathlon Zoe Whymark did exceptionally well in the 1.5k swim/40k bike/10k run to finish 2nd in her group.  The Lambert boys finished strongly in their group in the 21k half marathon.  Bernie Lambert was the star of the family finishing second in her group in the 10 kilometres run.  Christian Proksch smashed the 2-hour mark in the half marathon.

The 38 results are as follows:

There was a strong North East wind to greet the group this evening which was good on the way out but slowed things down on the way back.

We welcomed Marc Person and Mel Selby who are visiting the area on holidays, Dylan Hunt, Glenn Tester and Brent Vidler who has set himself the challenge of running 60km during the month of November and fundraising for Movember.

After many Covid postponements the Huskisson half running festival and Husky Triathlon are on this coming weekend. Some of our Broulee Runners that are competing include Christian Proksch, Matt and Michael Lambert who are all running in the Half marathon, Bernie Lambert is contesting the 10km event all held on Saturday and Brenton Cole is participating in the Sprint Triathlon on Sunday. We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing how they go.
