This evening’s event was conducted in very windy conditions with a chill factor close to zero.  It was these conditions that may have prompted most to push themselves to the limit as there were eighteen personal best times and another 3, who ran within 1 second of their previous best times.

In the 2 kilometres it was a great night for the Richards family as Felicity, Max, Leo and Marcus all running personal best times.  Other families to show improvement were Sam and Olivia Cregan and Jade and Geoff Berry.  Then came Cameron Lunn, Cathy West, Isabella Lopresti, Erin Domeny, Millie Shanahan, Gillian Edwards, Nerrida Louttit and Nellie Johnson with excellent personal best times.

The sole improve in the 3.5 kilometres was Steve Phipps showing that he is recovering from injury.  In the 5 kilometres Bridget Lunn improved and, in the process, demonstrated to her brother Cameron, who was first home in the 2 kilometres, that the women in the family are the strongest.

We were fortunate to have Dan Lloyd-Jones (Pictured with his son Monty) run as part of his preparation for the World Age Triathlon Championships to be held at the Gold Coast from 12 to 16 September.  Dan was selected in the Australian team to contest the Sprint Event in the 40 to 44 Age Group. This follows his previous selection in the Worlds held in Mexico in 2016.

See you all next week for our first run in Spring.

The ice in the air made the 68 starters in this evening’s Broulee Run walk keen to get started and avoid the instructions from the starter.  We welcomed Victoria Hennig and Robyn Domeny to their first outing with the group.

The highlight of the evening was the awarding of the 30-run shirt to Luke Mitchell (pictured with his family). Luke joins his wife Michelle and children Poppy and Hugo to receive this award.  Baby Lucinda will need another 19 appearances to receive this honour.

In the 2 kilometres personal best times were recorded by James and Andrew Greenway, Deakin McPartland, Tino Lopresti, Declan McPherson, Lucinda Mitchell, Jo Pirro and Nellie Johnson.

In the 3.5 kilometres the improvers were Laura Lopresti, Bonnie Lloyd-Jones and Peter Johnsen.

The star performer was Jo Pirro, who reduced his 2-kilometre time by almost 4 minutes.

See you all next week at 4.30pm.

Even with the strong winds there were still 71 starters in this evening’s Broulee run/walk.  The star of the evening was Bruce Dickinson, who recorded his 100th run.  Bruce first run was on 4 February 2015 and he has been a regular since that time.

We welcomed Liam and Annie Carroll, Kat and Juliet Macartney, Sam and Olivia Cregan and Carolyn Bartlett to their first run with the group.

In the 2 kilometres Jessica Flood and Declan McPherson recorded personal best times.  In the 3.5 kilometres Keiran Louttit and Monty Lloyd-Jones improved their times.  In the 5 kilometres Cameron Lunn improved his time by 78 seconds and was able to beat his sister Stephanie.

There is a lot of serious training being done for the Moruya Town to Surf fun run on 9 September.  There are also those getting ready for the Euro Coast Athletic season, which commences on Thursday 6 September at Mackay Park Batemans Bay.

The cold August winds kept the numbers of starters in this evening’s Broulee Run/Walk down to 75.  We welcomed Ann and Chris Dowd from Victoria to their first run.  They are visiting their family Liz and Jo Pirro and could not miss the opportunity to experience this community event.

Personal best times in the 2 kilometres were recorded by Andrew Greenway, Tiffany Johnston, Poppy Mitchell, Isabella Lopresti and Ryder McIntyre.  In the 5 kilometres PBs were recorded by Alan Andrews and Julie De Ernsted.  Julie has improved her time in this event on each of the last four Wednesdays, this is a remarkable achievement.

The stars of the evening were twins Emily and James Dickinson (pictured in front of the starting line) who celebrated their 16th birthday by racing one another over the 2 kilometres. Happy birthday you two.

See you all next week at 4.30pm.
