20 January 2016

Hot humid conditions with rain threatening kept the number down to 38 starters.

However, there was good quality in the efforts of those participating.  There were 3 personal best times with a number of near misses.

We had visitors from Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney.

Also backing up from excellent performances in Triathlon in Canberra last weekend, were Katie Slater, Kim Young, Adrian Connor and Gary Ashton.

We have others in training for the Batemans Bay Colour Me Fun Run next Sunday

The star of the run was young Leah Rigby, who smashed her personal best by minutes. Leah is picture with her dad Scott.

Also pictured are a few of our regular holiday makers that join us annually. from left Katie Slater, James Golds and Peter Holland.

13 January 2016

Another great evening for the Broulee Runners saw 72 people participate in this active event.

We had visitors from Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra join us this week. It was great to see the Golds and Buttifant families from Melbourne join us.  They have been regulars for at least 7 years.

The Slater girls from Sydney showed some class in the 5 kilometre event finishing just in front of local champion Joanne Flood.

Lucy Hincksman, who is an outstanding junior athletic, equalled her personal best in the 2 kilometre.  Lucy is now resident in Canberra and has achieved great things in 2015.

Daniel Beby, who is one of the most outstanding triathletes in the district, recorded his 30th run this evening and was awarded his shirt. In the photo we have baby Ashley, mum Michelle, Mitchell and under the cap Riley, the big hat is friend Bill Eppulsten and Daniel Beby.

See you all next Wednesday at 5pm, everyone welcome.

6 January 2016

The weather must have known that it was time for the Broulee runners to start their weekly event as the persistent rain of the last three days stopped and 23 people turned up to run.

All ran and splashed through mud and deep water without complaint.

The four members of the Grant family, on holiday from Queensland participated, with father Gavin recorded a one second personal best time in the 5 kilometres.

Will Gold of Melbourne returned to run and we can expect the rest of the family next week.

We welcomed Maxine Plant as a new starter.  She moved to the district from Ballarat and showed great fortitude in turning up in such atrocious conditions.

In the Grant family photo in the front left to right is Myles, Byron and Rowan.  In the back is dad Gavin.

See you all next week at 5pm everyone welcome.
