Perfect running conditions attracted 48 starters to this evening’s run.  We welcomed Alex, Olivia and Pedro Oliveira family and Ruby Wilton to their first outing with the group.  It is part of the atmosphere of the event that Ruby was carried most of the way by her grandmother Kathryn and Olivia was pushed in a pram by her father Pedro.  History tell us that in a short time both children will be running the 2 kilometres by themselves.

In the 2 kilometres personal best times were recorded by Tony and Tom Ireson.  In the 3.5 kilometres Stella Lloyd-Jones ran her second consecutive PB.  In the 5 kilometres PBs were recorded by Andrew Greenway and Sophie Carver.

Congratulations were given to Louise Cox and Matt Lambert for the excellent runs in the Stromlo Running festival in Canberra last weekend.

Bruce Dickinson recorded his 150th run this evening.  His first run was on the 4th February 2015 after having a hip replacement and was apprehensive about his chance of running at all.  Since that time, he has improved and only last week did a personal best in the 3.5 kilometres.  He is an excellent example for people wanting to excel after major surgery.

The hot weather of yesterday must have scared people off running this evening as we only had 37 starters.  Nevertheless, the quality of those present was good.  We welcomed Riley Brassington to his first run with the group.  He is on a work placement from Canberra and he performed very well in the 5 kilometres.

Taylor Traecey, who is showing considerable potential at a young age, did a personal best in the 2 kilometres.  Kirsty, the fourth member of the Dunn family in this evening’s event ran and excellent PB in the 3.5 kilometres.

Emily Dickinson, who has been running with the group for more than 3 years celebrated her 100th this evening.  She is part of a very talented family and her parents Margaret and Bruce are regulars as is her twin brother James.  The family has accumulated 334 runs between them.

We celebrated Sophie Carver’s 30th run as well.  She is one of the 5 Carvers, who participate regularly in the event and the family total is 260 runs.

The attraction of the event is that all members of a family can participate and have fun.

Even though it was hot and humid 66 people contested this evening’s Broulee Run/Walk.  Personal best times were hard to come by in the oppressive conditions.  The young in the 2 kilometres had not problems and Mabel and Nathan Nadmor, Hugo and Anthony Ireson and Amelia Pike each recorded best times.  In the 3.5 kilometres Kirsty Dunn set the example for the other 3 family members by recording a personal best.

This evening we celebrated with Richard Fisher his 250th appearance with the group.  Richard’s first run was on 14 September 2011.  Richard is one of the main stays of the run as he is always handing out the finish tokens each week and his enthusiastic approach and direction helps make the run the friendly family event.  He also helps keep the course in good condition and puts out and collects the course markers.  Because of his duties he does his run on the course earlier in the day and tonight being a special occasion he joined in with the other competitors.

Another to star tonight is Justin Murphy, who recorded his 30th run.  Justin is the most enthusiastic of the younger runners and he has tackled all distances.  Back from his first few runs he has checked the board to see where his is at in the accumulation of his runs anxious to gain his shirt and tonight is that night well done Justin.
