28 September 2016

We had a beautiful spring afternoon to greet the runners this week and it was great to see a few holiday makers join us on their visit to the area. We met Harry Leach and Charlie Cecere who both joined their families to compete in their first run. We had five personal best times the best been Ryan Blackwell with a 1 minute 5 second improvement.

We congratulated Greg Flood and Andrew McPherson on their 100th run. Greg started at Broulee runners back on 19 April 2013, Greg and his wife Jo come along regularly with their 3 boys Aaron, Sean and Rhys and daughter Jessica. Andrew had his first run on 26 February 2014 and now with wife Michelle, son Declan and daughter Nina are often on the starters line each Wednesday.

We are starting our new daylight saving timeslot of 5pm next week so you have an extra half an hour to get your running shoes on. See you all then, everyone is welcome.

21 September 2016

This evening there were 10 starters in the steady rain.

In any other sport serious consideration would have been given to calling the event off.
Seven out of the field did the 5 kilometres, which goes to show that serious runners can handle the tough conditions.

Nick Hall from the central coast couldn’t resist a challenge on his holiday and turned up for his first run with the group.

See you all next Wednesday at 4.30pm for our last run at this time slot before daylight saving kicks in and we revert to a 5pm start on the 5th October. Will remind you all again next week.

Stormy weather kept the numbers down to 26 starters.  Some were backing up from the Moruya Town to Surf fun run and reported various aches and pains. Nevertheless, there were 4 personal best times recorded by Riley Campbell, Bridget Whipp, Declan McPherson and Haylene Edwards.

We welcomed Claire Stutchbury from Goulburn, who is working at the Moruya Hospital on a professional development program.

Patrick Wade recorded his 100th run this evening.  Patrick first run was back on 7 May 2014 and he has been a regular competitor along with his mother, father and sister ever since.

See you all next Wednesday at 4.30pm all welcome.

7 September 2016

Conditions were ideal for the Broulee runners at the Mossy Point lookout.  35 people ran or walked their way over the 3 distances on offer.

Elijah Turner-Collins, Roz Hayward, Haylene Edwards (pictured with her family Jamie and Damia). Daniel Beby and Gary Ashton recorded personal best times.

Daniel Beby set a new course record for the 3.5 kilometre distance.  He ran an excellent time of 11 minutes and 11 seconds. This bettered his own record by 30 seconds. Daniel will be one of the favourites for line honours in the Moruya Town to Surf fun run to be held this Sunday 11 September. Daniel's 9-year-old son Riley, is running excellent times in both the Broulee runners and the Batemans Bay park run, will surprise many older runners at the fun run. We wish all our runners the best for the town to surf.

See you all next Wednesday at 4.30pm.
