Winter came to the Runners this evening with cold southerly winds.  There were 42 brave starters and only 3 personal best times.

Last week we had four members of the Stitt family join the run and this week we had four members of the McAsh family do their first run.  It is a very popular event for the whole family to participate and enjoy.  They can run, walk or push a pram and improve their fitness.

Imogen Seidel recorded a personal best time in the 2 kilometres improving by over 3 minutes.  In the 3 Kilometres Ben Rosenbaum reduced his time by 25 seconds and in the 4 kilometres Gary Ashton improved by 13 seconds.

The Gunn boys were outstanding in the Regional Cross Country running championships at Nowra.  James came 3rd and Lewis came 5th.  They will now go on to the State Championships in Sydney in few weeks’ time.

Bernie and Mick Lambert are off to run in the Great Ocean Road marathon events this coming weekend.   We wish them well in this very challenging event.

Great conditions for running attracted 52 starters this evening and there were 10 personal best times.  In the 2 kilometres Aengus Delaney, Violet Turner, Ashlee Beby, JP Tangney, Orla Tangney, Asha Tangney, Remy Shannon, and Anna Marley all recorded PBs.  In the 3 kilometres Emma Dawson and Meg Edenborough improved on their previous best time.

We celebrated Paige Connaughton’s 400th run this evening.  Paige’s first run was on 27th February 2008.  She was encouraged by Liza Martini to come along.  This was a very significant date for the success of the Broulee Runners as it is today, as she brought along her mother and father Deb and Dave.  It is history now because Deb has been very instrumental with the growth of the event with her marketing on Facebook and of course her work as the starter and photographer for many years.  Dave is the action man having made 640 appearances since 2008.  Paige believes in quality over quantity having successfully cleaned up her father over all distances.

The wind dropped in time for the run, which allowed the runners to extend themselves and as a result there were 14 personal best times.  The star was young athlete Audrey Knobel, who set a new course record in the 2 kilometres.  She reduced the old record of Lily Mcintosh by 3 seconds.

In the 2-kilometres other PBs were recorded by Lewis Gunn, Ben Rosenbaum, Regina Knobel, Ashlee Beby, Theo De Frenza., Sara Norgate, and James Tangney.

In the 3-kilometres Julie Amphlett recorded a personal best time.  This was an impressive return to form after recovering from an injury.

In the 4-kilometres PBs were recorded by Barry King, Andrew McPherson, Gary Ashton, David West, and Daniel Greenway.

Last week we neglected to mention that Taryn Carver recorded her 100th run.  For good measure she come back this evening and did her 101st run.  Well done, Taryn!
