The thunder storm held off and moved out to sea to allow the 68 starters to commence the three distances on offer in Wednesday’s evenings Broulee run/walk.

Once again, we welcomed visitors to the run and in particular Ren Lefevre from Walgett and Lyn Rummery from Orange to their first run.

Excellent weather for running after the very hot temperatures over the last week attracted 94 starters to this evening’s Broulee Run/Walk.  There were 16 people new to the event coming from various locations outside the Shire.  There were other visitors returning for another go at the event.

In the 2 Kilometres personal best times were recorded by Thomas, Tracey and Zara Menzies Stegbauer, Emily Huynh, Steve Corcoran, Nerida Louttit, Peter Johnsen, Lachlan and Alice Cole.

In the 3.5 Kilometres improvers were Angus Murphy and Judy Kennedy.  In the 5 kilometres the stand times were recorded by Jason Stegbauer, Louise Cox, Brenton Cole and Julian Antoniak.

It was impressive to see so many families participating and performing with distinction.  The Stegbauer with all four members achieving personal best times.  The Murphy clan (Moruya Bike shop fame) has six members participating with Angus the star.

A very hot afternoon greeted the 75 Broulee runners for this weeks run. We welcomed back Louise Cox who has returned from Lancashire, England to her second home in Mossy Point and Josh Connaughton who has come home from Jasper, Canada for a short trip to visit family before heading back to Canada.

Congratulations to Mitchell Beby who completed his 100th run, this is quite an accomplishment as he is only 9 years old.

It was wonderful to see the whole of the Johnsen family running together for the first time at Broulee runners.

See you all next week at 5pm.

Cool conditions with a hint of a shower did not deter the 118 starters in this evening Broulee Run/walk.  Of these 33 were first timers and together with other visitors from other occasions they combined to make the visitors to the region the bulk of the field.  It is a family event with the Huynh family having 6 starters as well as other big families including the Carters, the Menzie-Stegbauer’s and the Scanlan’s.

Joe Whitear was most impressive in the 2 kilometres with a time of 6.43, which is only 14 seconds away from the record.  Other improvers over this distance were Charlie Cecere, Joe Banks, Milla Henry, Lily Van Weerdenburg, Erynn Carter, Jordan Carter, Emma Carter Christian Carter and not to be outdone Jennifer Carter.

In the 3.5 kilometres the improvers were Kai Sleeman, Aiden O’Leary, Jacquellyn O’Leary and Meredith Peck.

The improvers in an impressive field in the 5 kilometres were Matt Edenborough, Jason Stegbauer, Greg Whipp, Thach Huynh, Jason Domeny and Mirella Granata.

The two celebrities of the night were Riley Beby, who completed his 100th run and Melissa Van Weerdenburg, who was awarded her 30-run shirt.
