City to Surf 2012

This year, the Connaughton family took part in their first C2Surf.  Here is their race report:

After way too many years of saying that one day we will enter and run in the City to Surf finally 2012 became the one that we actually ran. The morning was cloudy with a Sw wind blowing as we went to catch the bus into the city and was a light rain falling. However the rain cleared and the weather was forgotten as we lined up with the thousand of other starters. The atmosphere is truly amazing and as we edged our way slowly to the starting line there was an amazing array of jumpers, scarves and beanies been flung in the air as the competitors in front nearing the start line began to strip off some layers. Once we finally began was non stop entertainment along the way with bands playing on the footpath, hilarious costumes running past, Dave in particular battled it out with some very large Gatorade bottles that kept passing him (and true to Dave's competitive nature eventually overtook them).
We all finished in one piece and the first thing we all said when we met up at the finish line was that we will definitely be coming back for 2013.
