We had perfect conditions for this week's run as was shown with the 6 PB's that were recorded.

Most notable was Rhys Flood who not only bettered his personal PB but also smashed the Broulee runners World Record by 7 seconds. Rhys has just returned from the state cross country and came in at a very impressive 10th position.  

A big thank you to Richard and James for helping out with time recording this week. Is wonderful to see our starters put their hand up to help out when needed. The whole club is based on volunteer help and would not run as smoothly without this great community support.

There were cool crisp conditions for the 47 starters in this evening’s event.  We welcomed Katie and Shane Madden and applauded 8 personal best times.  The Lenehan family were outstanding with Keira slashing 105 seconds off her best in the 3.5 kilometres and Kellen 12 seconds in the 5 kilometres.

There is strong competition in the blue ribbon 5 kilometres event with 3 personal best times and others within a whisker spurred on by the strong competition.  At this level most are on their threshold and it is a matter of seconds that secure improvements.  Tom Nichols stumbled upon the running group a few weeks ago when he was out on his own personal run. He decided to come along the following week and made a very impressive start and has improved that initial time again this week with a 28 second PB. Matt Lambert has moved up to half-marathons and it is clear that his additional training helped him gain 5 seconds improvement this evening.

Once again we had perfect conditions for running this evening.  A field of 54 starters lined up at the starting line. Before beginning the run a few announcements were made acknowledging the achievements from our regular competitors.  These were Lucy Hincksman, Jaylah Hancock-Cameron and Rhys Flood, who won at their respective school Regional cross county events and will now all compete in State Championships.  Special mention was also made of Patrick Wade for achieving 50 runs.

We had an amazing 13 PB's this week, the stars of the evening were Kirsty Campbell and Mark Lavender, who slashed huge chunks off their personal best times. We also welcomed Ian Carmody and Tom Nichols to the event.

It is pleasing to see Victoria Fleming, representing Banksia Village, improve each time she walks the 2 kilometres.  This is a clear example that this event can be enjoyed by anyone, who likes exercise and enjoy the company of like-minded people.
