The quiet of a Sunday morning in Broulee came to an abrupt halt this morning, when a pack of Broulee Runners descended upon Zanthus Drive for a 'long run' via the Oaks Ranch. They wore beanies, gloves and the like to ward off the morning frost - though Nev braved the elements in a tshirt!
Good luck to anyone who was planning a sleep in, because the 'buzz' seemed to transcend through the streets of Broulee. Runners sharing their upcoming goals - City to Surf, first Half Marathon, King of the Mountain and perhaps a Marathon.
Which reminds me of something I read once, about The Courage to Start. The most difficult part of any long-distance training program isn't finishing the race. The most difficult part of the training program is getting to the start line. You must confront so many obstacles. So many lose their enthusiasm. Somewhere along the way so many decide that the rewards just aren't worth the effort. They decide that they can live without finding their limits, without challenging their expectations of themselves.
Well done to Adrian - who ran 18 kms this morning, finishing strongly. Happy Birthday to Emma for tomorrow (all special people are born in June), Good Luck to Nev today - in his first singles finals!! We are proud of you.
Finally, one question to ponder - do all the Kennedy's run?
