One day on from the shortest day produced excellent form for this evening’s run with 13 Personal Best times.  Also, we welcomed Sue and Jacub Dreher from Canberra to their first run.  Last Wednesday we welcomed Harper and Scotty Bourke and they though it was so good that they came back this evening.  We had 19 actual runners and 9 virtual runners.

This evening we had 15 actual runners brave the cold weather to test themselves over the 3 distances.  Emerson Carver improved in the 2-kilometres.  Janelle Morgan and Julie Amphlett ran Personal Best time in the 3 Kilometres.  We were pleased to have Carissa Morgan and her dad Steve back after a long absence.

Keira Atkin competed in the NSW State Cross Country championships in Sydney and came 14th out of 57 competitors.  Her impressive time of 13.40 would have smashed her 3-kilometres time at Broulee and would have set the record for the fastest female over this distance.

Lily McIntosh will represent Moruya High School at the Regional Cross Country championships at Cambewarra (Nowra) on Friday.  She is an impressive athlete and should do her school proud.

Karen Harding Smith ran the Wollongong Running Festival in the 10 Kilometres in a time of 51.53 knocking 3 minutes off her 10-kilometre PB.  She also came 7th in her age group.

Overcast and cold winds greeted the 19 actual starters in this evening’s run.  The only consolation was that it was not raining.  We are still taking virtual times. If you feel that you cannot make the start at Broulee or still want to be involved from near and far, we welcome your results.  We want all Broulee Runners past and present to feel part of the family.  The classic example of this is Simon Wall, who has 106 runs to his credit.  Simon lives in Canberra and a good percentage of his runs are at home.  Because of Bush Fires and Covid he is yet to receive his 30-run shirt.

Keira Atkin cut 21 second from her personal best time in the 2-kilometres and she shows plenty of potential.  She qualified second in the district Championships and is now going to Sydney for the State Championships.  There were strong performances from Beau and Eli Melgaard with PBs in the 2-kilometres.  Others to improve were Emily Tugwell and Janelle Morgan in the 3-kilometres.  Erin Drewsen, fresh from her impressive performance in the Canberra State Championship improved by over 3 minutes in the 4 kilometres.  Others to improve over the 4-kilometres were Stephen Seidel and Jenny Taylor
