An excellent evening for running which produced quality times in the 5-kilometres. The first four runners under the 20-minute mark. Matt Johnsen and Daniel Beby coming with only one second separating them. Personal best times were recorded by Harper Lasscock, Pearl Eaton, Daniel Greenway, Erin Drewsen and Norm Lenehan.

We welcomed Astrid Barrington, Yvonne Kreet, Mel Eaton, Jakub and Sue Deher to their first run with the group.

Tonight, we farewelled Greg Castle, who returns home to Seattle in the USA. Greg has been with us for some months during COVID and has recorded 9 runs over the 5-kilometres distance. He has also registered several runs with the Batemans Bay Park run. He hopes to return over the Christmas holidays.

This evening Broulee Runners were able to celebrate its 700^th run.  Robyn and Mike Kennedy were there at the start in February 2007 along with Liza Martini.  Deb Connaughton came onto the scene in February 2008.  Deb and Robyn manage all the results at each event and are the faces that everyone sees at the start and finish.   They are responsible for the huge success of the event.

 

This is the first occasion that we were able to include all three distances for more than 12 months and the response was excellent as we had 54 actual runners.  This was reflected in the quality of the times as we 10 personal best times.

 

In the 2 Kilometres PBs were run by Harper Lasscock, Rocco Lopresti, Lily Van Weendenburg, Ashley Baby, Eve Popelier-Knight, and Clare Knight.  In the 3.5 kilometres PBs were recorded by Tino Lopresti, Rosie McPartland and Alexis Carver.  In the 5 Kilometres Barry King recorded a PB.

 

The star of the night was Paige Connaughton, who recorded her 300^th run.  Page started with her mother and father (Deb and Dave) on 27 February 2008 and her aim is to beat her father, which she has achieved on occasions.

A windy evening greeted our runners this week at our 4.30pm starting line. We had 38 actual runners and 12 virtual runners. We welcomed the Johnson, Christmas and Whitelaw families  to their first Broulee runners. It was also nice to see Robyn Slater join her daughters Penny and Katie for her first run.

There were some fantastic results from our Broulee runners that participated in the Canberra Times Marathon festival last weekend, for the half marathon were Matt Lambert 1 hour 30 minutes, Lauren Evans 1 hour 32 minutes, Louise Cox 1 hour 44 minutes and Michael Lambert 1 hour 58 minutes, Tori Hennig completed the full marathon in 4 hours 26 minutes, Bernie Lambert in the 10km event finished in 53 minutes and Charley Proksch (pictured with Dad Christian) in the 2km kids dash came over the line in 13.14 minutes. Congratulations to you all.

We will be running the 2km and 3.5km events at the 4.30pm starting line next Wednesday so we look forward to seeing you all back then.

A lovely evening greeted our runners this week for the first run at the new time slot of 4.30pm. We had 24 actual runners and 8 virtual runners. It was great to see some of our Canberra and Melbourne holiday makers join us for a returned visit or first time run. We welcomed back Josh Connaughton who has had his first run for the year after dislocating his shoulder in January, he did a very commendable time of 24 minutes and will be back improving this time over the coming weeks. The outstanding performance of the night was from Canberra visitor Thomas Menzies-Stegbauer who has ran with us before on previous visits, coming in at 20.17 just edging out local David Bain. 

The Canberra Times Marathon Festival will be held this weekend with some of our regular Broulee Runners participating. Loren Chambers and Tori Hennig are both doing the Full Marathon, Matt, Bernie and Michael Lambert, Gill Stapleton, Christian Proksch, Lauren and Mark Evans are registered for a variety of the other distances and Charley and Leo Proksch are doing the kids dash, we wish them all a great weekend and look forward to hearing some of their results next week.
