This week’s event attracted 35 competitors with 16 virtual runners timing themselves over one of the 3 distances.  Strong winds confronted the 19 actual runners in todays run over 5 kilometres.  It is outstanding to see young boys Tino Lopresti, Selby Johnston and Will Corkin tackle this distance.  It was Will’s first attempt, and he ran strongly.  Tino managed a top 5 place against very experienced runners, for a 11-year-old he shows outstanding promise.

 

Personal best times were hard to come by in the conditions nevertheless Bernie Lambert, Richard Scholes, and Tori Hennig managed to improve.  Tori backed up strongly after competing in the Stromlo Running Festival in Canberra last weekend over 30 kilometres and where she finished a creditable 3^rdin her age group.

This evening we had 28 actual runners in the 5 kilometres distance and 12 virtual runners.  We welcomed Jon Camilleri and Richard Scholes to their first run with the group.  Richard is local Moruya athlete having competed in Hawaiian Ironman and Jon is a young runner, who competed with distinction over the 5-kilometre distance.

 

There were excellent performances with 7 personal best times.  Those being Lauren Evans, Tom Hofsteede, Ashley Garland, Elisa Milenkovic, Bernie Lambert, Gillian Stapleton and Tori Hennig.  

 

Special mention for the performance of Lauren Evans, who cracked the 20-minute mark with a 21 second improvement.  She was pushed to actual exhaustion by pacer Matt Johnsen.

 

Michael Lambert and Brock Gilligan were awarded their 30-run shirts this evening.

This evening, which is week 5 of being back on the track, we had 23 actual runners and 14 virtual runners.  We welcomed Ting Liu to her first run with the group.  Personal best times were recorded by Ashley Garland and Eliza Milenkovic. It was good to see Angus Murphy back with the group and he promises that son Justin will be back next week.  If Justin is on form, he may be able to be strong competition for young gun Tino Lopresti.

A special welcome was given to Miles Craighead, who was an original of the event back on 7 February 2007.  His last appearance was 8 years ago.  He has now accumulated 27 runs and it is hoped that he will earn his 30-run shirt before he heads back to New Zealand.

Warm conditions greeted the 22 actual runners in this evening’s Broulee run over 5 kilometres.  We also had 13 virtual runners, who performed over the 3 distances.  We had one new starter in Zoe Whymark, who did a strong 5 kilometres.

 

Once again young Tino Lopresti performed with distinction coming 5^th in the 5 kilometres.

 

Outstanding personal best times were recorded by Selby Johnston and Bernie Lambert over the 5-kilometre distance.  Selby improved by 4 minutes 55 seconds and Bernie by 1 minute 18 seconds.
