Tonight, was a celebration of family and community for the 69 participants in the Broulee Runners Christmas event.  After the exertion of running and walking all gathered to have a party and enjoy the company.

We welcomed Steph Wadley and Jaz Matz to their first run with the group.

In the 2 kilometres personal best times were recorded by Monty and Bonnie Lloyd-Jones, Selby Johnston. Jye Barbara and John Hicks.

Although, there were no awards other than individual satisfaction, mention must be made of Jason Domeny, who recorded the greatest number of runs for the year. Jason first experience with the event was watching his wife and daughters running.  After deciding to have a go himself he steadily showed remarkable improvement in all three events.

There will be no event of Christmas day.  We will be running on New Years day to help shake off the excess of the previous evening.

Good conditions without the smoke attracted 75 starters to this evening’s Broulee Run/Walk.  We welcomed Hamish Gorman to his first run with the group and he ran strongly to bring home the 5 kilometres in 18.33.  

In the 2 kilometres personal best time were recorded by Jules McCarthy, Selby Johnston, Tom Ireson, Monty Lloyd-Jones, Chantelle Louttit, Jye Barbara, Imogen Seidel, Alice James and John Hicks.

In the 3.5 kilometres PBs were recorded by Jaymz Motyka, Bernadine Lambert, Keiran Louttit and Stella Lloyd-Jones.

In the 5 kilometres PBs were recorded by Angus Murphy, Jason Domeny, Dylan Holmes and Mary Anderson.

The star of the night was Lauren Evans, who received her 30^th run shirt.  Lauren has established herself as one of the top female distance runners in the district.  She always finishes near the top in short distance events and manages to win her age group in longer distances from half marathon to 50 kilometres endurance events.

The 46 starters were very fortunate not to have the lingering smoke in the air.  Those with respiratory problems were able to compete without the difficulties confronting most people in the district.

We welcomed Jayden Lyttle from Brisbane, who ran an excellent time of 11.44 in the 3.5 kilometres.  This time is only 3 seconds away from the record, which is held by our resident Hawaiian Ironman, Daniel Beby.  Jayden is visiting relatives at Broulee and promises to come back and make an attempt on the record.

A personal best time in the 2 kilometres was recorded by Bonnie Lloyd-Jones.  A personal best time in the 3.5 kilometres was recorded by Jasper Motyka and his brother Max equalled his previous best time over this distance.
