The cold bite of winter kept the numbers down this evening.  Yet three were able to improve on their previous best times.

 

In the 2-kilometres the ever-improving Ashlee Baby reduced her time by 17 seconds and Emerson Carver managed to improve her time by 68 seconds.

 

In the 3-kilometres James Gunn had a huge personal best by 134 seconds.

 

We have several Broulee Runners going to the Gold Coast for the running festival to be held next weekend.  We look forward to learning about their experiences.  The event attracts runners from all over Australia as well as international athletes, who will compete in running races up to and including the full marathon.

The winter solstice has arrived for the runners, and we can now look forward to longer days.  This evening we had 20 starters and 4 personal best times.

 

In the 2 -kilometres Sophia Carver improved by 37 seconds.  In the 3-kilometres Lewis Gunn smashed his previous time by 4 minutes.  In the 4-kilometres Geoff Hawke improved by 37 seconds and Lulu Henley improved her previous best time by 58 seconds.

Cold windy conditions confronted the runners this evening.  However, out of the 29 starters there were 12 personal best times.

 

It was a night for families to show their quality. The Kerr family with Violet, Eden and Monica all improved their times in the 2-kilometres.  Also, Max, Leo, and Marcus Richards cut sizable chunks from their previous best times in the 2-kilometres.  Anthony Snowball showed his class by reducing his 2-kilometre time15 seconds.

 

The McAsh family of Cove and Ewan improved times in 3-kilometres and Louisa improved in the 4-kilometres.  

 

Lulu Henley managed to reduce her 4-kilometres time by 49 seconds.

 

Special mention goes to James Gunn, who received his 30-run shirt this evening.  He is a talented distance runner having last week competed in the NSW Cross Country Championships in Sydney and out of a field of 110 of the best in the State he came 44^th place.  His brother Lewis also competed, and he also finished well up in this quality field.

 

Broulee Runners goes international with the Connaughton Family sending details of their 4-kilometre runs in Fiji.  They are enjoying the hospitality and warmth of the Fiji people.

Deb will still find time to record these results on Facebook.  There is no stopping her contribution to the management of the event.

An excellent evening for running and of the 44 starters there were 8 personal best times.  In the 2-kilometres PBs were recorded by Imogen Seidel, Tom Ireson, Gemma Issaakidis and Anna Marley.

 

In the 4-kilometres the improvers were Brad Turner, Louisa McAsh, Bernie Lambert, and Gillian Stapleton.

Unseasonal warm weather allowed the 48 runners to push themselves and as a result there were 11 Personal Best times.

 

In the 2-kilometres James Gunn improved by 10 seconds; Regina Knobel by 4 seconds; Elani Van Der Meulen by 13 seconds; James Tangney by 5 seconds and Anna Marley by 54 seconds.

 

In the 3-kilometres Ewan and Cove McAsh improved by 26 seconds.  In the 4-kilometres Dave Connaughton improved by 4 seconds; Brad Turner by 7 seconds and Gary Ashton by 37 seconds.

 

The star of the night was Louisa McAsh, who improved her 4-kilometre time by an outstanding amount of 3 minutes and 35 seconds.

 

Some runners are approaching major record appearances.   For example, James Gunn has 29 runs and Sunni West has 98 runs.  We look forward to celebrating with them soon.

Good running conditions attracted an excellent field of 49 starters this evening with 15 recording Personal Best times.  In the 2 kilometres PBs were run by Violet Turner, Ashlee Beby, Bonnie Lloyd-Jones, Max Gunn, Julie Amphlett, Ron Garbutt, Layla and Lani Riley.

 

In the 3 Kilometres PBs were run by Ben Rosenbaum, Madison Ewans and Meg Edenborough.  In the 4 Kilometres PBs were run by Monty Lloyd-Jones. Dylan Van Der Meulen, Nuno Goncalves and Brad Turner.

 

Nuno joined us this evening after a successful run in the Famous Boston (USA) Marathon held on 17 April where he recorded a time of 3 hours and 16 minutes.  This was the 127^th  running of this event and it attracted a field of 30,000 from 100 countries.

 

Keira Atkin competed in the Canberra Goulburn Cross Country Championships, and she come first place in her group and will now compete in the State Catholic Schools Cross Country in Sydney on 13 June.

 

In the Great Ocean Road Running Festival held last weekend Bernie and Mike Lambert and Zoe Whymark ran the (long) half Marathon (23) kilometres.  Bernie was second in her group in a time 2 hours 22 minutes.  Mike was 4^th in his group in a time of 2 hours 5 minutes.  Zoe Whymark was 7^th in her group in a time of 2 hours 1 minute.  It was reported to be a tough event with lots of hills, strong head winds and rain.

Winter came to the Runners this evening with cold southerly winds.  There were 42 brave starters and only 3 personal best times.

 

Last week we had four members of the Stitt family join the run and this week we had four members of the McAsh family do their first run.  It is a very popular event for the whole family to participate and enjoy.  They can run, walk or push a pram and improve their fitness.

 

Imogen Seidel recorded a personal best time in the 2 kilometres improving by over 3 minutes.  In the 3 Kilometres Ben Rosenbaum reduced his time by 25 seconds and in the 4 kilometres Gary Ashton improved by 13 seconds.

 

The Gunn boys were outstanding in the Regional Cross Country running championships at Nowra.  James came 3^rd and Lewis came 5^th.  They will now go on to the State Championships in Sydney in few weeks’ time. 

 

Bernie and Mick Lambert are off to run in the Great Ocean Road marathon events this coming weekend.   We wish them well in this very challenging event.
