In the interests of separation and the need for people to exercise and to keep the spirit of the event alive in these troubled times it has become a do-it-yourself event.  Runners and walkers are able to do any one of the three distances on any day of the week in their own time and we will record their achievement.

This is a record of the first of the new normal in the history of the Broulee runners.

In light of the latest Government restrictions we have decided not to meet on Wednesday’s as a group, but instead let you all run/walk your desired distance anytime before each Wednesday afternoons at 5pm, recording your own time, and then sending it through as a private message to our Facebook page and we will continue to record your results.
We hope everyone stays safe and healthy over the coming weeks and we will look forward to starting up again once things have settled down.

This is the first run under the heightened threat of Coronavirus.  No place cards were used only the call and remembering of one’s place.   The recording and publication of results will be the same. The run will continue whilst participants are mindful of their own and the safety of others.

We welcomed international visitors Marjorie Queau and Xavier Charmasson and Lauren Chambers to her first event.

In the 2 kilometres personal bests were recorded by Rosie McPartland, Daisy West, Sadie Dunn and Helen Okey.  In the 3.5 kilometres a PB was recorded by Mark Barraclough and in the 5 kilometres PBs were achieved by Greg McDonald and Phil Turner.

Excellent Conditions attracted 54 starters to this evening’s run.  We welcomed Mark Barraclough to his first run with the group.  We were pleased to see Greg McDonald make an appearance after an absence of three years.  Greg and family were severely impacted by the bushfires and it was great to see him back with the runners.  He managed to run a smart time in the 5 kilometres.

In the 2 kilometres personal best times were run by Poppy Mitchell, Alexis Caver, Lucinda Mitchell Eve and Clare Knight.  In the 3.5 kilometres Jen Newman recorded a PB.

It was a great night for the Domeny family with Erin recording her 100th run.  It was especially good for her grandmother Robyn Domeny, who was awarded her 30-run shirt.  This is typical of the event in that Robyn came along to support the family and eventually thought that she would give it a go and she has now achieved this important milestone.

Heavy soaking rain reduced the numbers to 11 dedicated runners, who contested the 3.5 and 5 kilometres.  What the event lacked in numbers was made up by the class of the runners.  The track was slippery and the path had ankle deep water, so it was a real test of the toughness of each competitor.  Although, there were only 2 personal best times everyone performed with distinction with near best times.

Max Hadley ran a PB of 16.20 in the 3.5 kilometres and Christian Proksch ran 23.33 to record his best time in the 5 kilometres.  Christian is training hard in the Matt Johnsen camp to contest the 10 kilometres at the Canberra Times running Festival in April.

Lauren Evans backed up her second placing in the Crackenback Half Marathon last weekend, where she run an excellent time of 1 hour and 56 minutes. For good measure she talked her father into running the event and he managed first in his age group. Another high achiever was 10-year-old Taylor Traecey, who ran an excellent time in the 3.5 kilometres.
